Itinerary
- Pick up from your Zanzibar hotel between 4am and 5am, depending on location, for early morning flight (between 6am and 7am) to Mafia Island (about 50 minutes). Upon arrival at the island, our team will meet you and bring you to the trip base for a briefing before boarding our local boat to look for whale sharks. After swimming with whale sharks, you will have a local lunch, then be taken to visit the flying foxes at the nearest location, followed by a transfer to Kilindoni City for exploring if time allowed. Later transfer at the airport for your flight to back Zanzibar, and our driver will be waiting you to back your hotel. The Mafia Whale Shark Adventure is intended for adventurous tourists who want to swim with friendly whale sharks in their natural habitat on Mafia Island, which is located south of Dar es Salaam. These creatures spend most of the year in the Mafia waters, but the best months to visit and swim with them are October, November, December, January, February, and March.
